My mom was an 80s rockstar. I'm trying to find a way to get her album onto MP3 but it's hard when it's a, you know, 45' record. She still has some of her rockstar clothes in her closet, including zebra-print spandex pants and a stonewashed denim jacket.
Think The Bangles. That's my mom.
My dad had no less than 4 bands, he had a mullet, and he was/is a drummer. My mom joined his band and then they got married and had one awesome kid (and three other ones, but they don't count).
My mom's record-company story is, she went to meet with Tommy Mottola and sitting next to her was Kid Creole, of Kid Creole and the Coconuts. You've never heard of him, I'm sure, but go download some of his music. It's a good laugh.
Are your parents cool?

i'd like to think my parents are cool.
my mom has been doing decorative work of all kinds for 30+ years, so i always had a knock-ut halloween costume. not to mention, she is the one that begged me to start hiding in my aunts frontyard to scare trick-or-treaters during halloween.
she also personally knows some of the best romance authors in the country.
and my dad has been in 5 bands i think, over the years. never went pro, but he did get to play his old high school dances, bars, and his companies' functions most recently.
oh, and about your mom's records. how much do you care about quality? i know a way to get it on mp3, but it probably wont sound the greatest. I.E., simply plug the audio cables into the line-i port on your computer, and record it to either wav, or mp3.

My dad has worked a lot of concerts. He also has a couple purple hearts from Vietnam. Aside from that, he's a colossal bore.
My mom's kind of a square.

My mom plays more video games than a lot of kids. Also, she's as crazy as you can be without officially being crazy. She has a caustic sense of humor like mine as well. Definitely fun to hang around with a lot.
My dad..... is cool, but he takes a while to lighten up to someone he doesn't know.

My dad believes he was switched at birth with Prince Charles.
I think my dad's cool. He's a former DJ who has tremendous luck with women. My mom says I got my love of music from him. Why the hell couldn't I get his luck with women?!?!
As for my mom, she's deathly boring and kinda makes me wonder how my parents were able to put aside their differences in personality long enough to conceive.

If you were to split me into 2 parts, with my exuberance, creativity, optimism, and l33t baking skills going one way, and my skepticism, warped sense of humor (including love of puns), and my ability to read people extremely well going the other, you'd have my parents.
Momma is always smiling, always thinking the best of people, always willing to give a second chance (I try SO HARD to be that way), and has domestic skills to make Martha Stewart slink away in shame. She once made me a Halloween costume to look like the goddess Athena, and everyone kept asking where I'd gotten "that gorgeous costume". ^_^ All my friends ALWAYS love my mother, and she loves everybody in return. When I was young, my house was always the center of my social life, simply because all my friends always wanted to come over.
Daddy is quieter, but more observant. He can tell you most everything about a person after having been with them for 10 minutes (I can do this to an extent, and I'm trying very hard to emulate him in this), and can build ANYTHING. My class in high school always won EVERYTHING that had to do with floats or backdrops or props. Daddy was also the one who was obsessed with my continuing education. When I burned my hands my senior year, it was Daddy who filled out every single scholarship form for me.
I could NEVER have asked for cooler parents. They made my entire childhood easy, comfortable, happy and idyllic. And they do everything they can do keep my life that way now.

I totally lucked out on the parents department: my parents-in-law are awesome, too. Bryan's parents don't have any daughters, and they like to spoil me with buying me stuff! My mom-in-law likes to take me shopping and out to eat, my dad-in-law likes to take me out to eat sushi when we're down there, and they tend to shower me with electronic gadgets and Sanrio stuff (both of which I adore). I get along GREAT with both of them, too.

My parents are pretty dull. Neither of them have a single "cool" talent that they've passed on. Although my dad was first chair sax (I forget which) back in his high school band; unfortunately - as he claims - he was "too good to practice", but not good enough to play seriously. My mom twriled batons back in her day, but never made anything of it outside school.
I don't get "you're so like your parents!" sort of comments much, thankfully.

I believe I was adopted.
Well my mom is awesome cause she's been working in showbiz as a producers assistance at Disney. I'd get to always go to her work and find out about all the movies they were going to make like 3 years before they came out. And I got a bunch of cool shit from artists, producers, painters, and security guards fed me. Now thats providing! Now she works at a schoolfull of celibrity's children. She knows celebrities and she introduces me to them. I know Jason Alexander and Eddie Van Halens kid Wolfgang. Oh and I got a nice pic of me and Lea Thompson from Back to the Future. She looks like a drunken whore. Well she was drunk. If I find a scanner I'll post the pic.
And I hate my dad.

My dad's a TV-repairman-turned moritician whose sense of humor is sometimes way too cruel for its own good (when my mom was pregnant with me, he drove my older brother around the street sof a neighboring city saying we had to find a new house for him because they couldn't keep him after having me). My mother's a science teacher that tries too hard to be hip with the kids. For a Christmas present my Freshman year in college, I got a scooter. No, not one of the motorized ones that Peter Parker drives. The put your foot on the ground and propel it scooter because she said all the college kids were using them. Um, I don't know what college she's been looking at, but at Iowa State University, a liberal-yet-cynical university, that guarantees you will never get laid. Also, when she found out my interest in anime, she did absolutely no research and out of the blue, got me a DBZ beachtowel and a Beyblade children's coloring book written in French when she went to Europe. Oy.
So my parents aren't really that cool, unfortuantely, but I've had to deal with the fact that I'm "uncool" in the Almost Famous definition of the word, so I live with them (thankfully, not living with them TOGETHER, because they're divorced, and if it was legal to blow someone's brains out with a shotgun, my mother would do that to my father).

When I was about 5 or 6, my mom worked at a McDonalds in New York State. One night, after the store had closed and everyone was cleaning up, a limo pulls up and Mike Tyson walks in. He asked for his order, and my mom told him that the McDonalds was closed for the night, and he had to come back tomorrow. Tyson asked, "Do you know who I am?" My mom replied, "Yes, I know who you are, but McDonalds is still closed. Come back tomorrow." Tyson stormed out, and didn't come back.
My mom did the one thing I could never do on my NES: she made Mike Tyson her bitch.

Debbie Bland, an old long-gone from the Project Majestic Mix boards, was into game music like her daughter. She was a tough moderator in her times, though. ^^
My parents are alright. My dad has this constantly stressed-out demeanor about him which negates just about all else, and while my mom isn't into game music specifically, she's relatively open-minded (not just about music) & she says that most of the stuff I play sounds "nice".

Back when I first met Dale a few years ago, every time we were hanging out and someone didn't know who someone else was, Dale woud say "he's my dad". Even if it was a girl. Even if it was an object. Even if it was an idea. The joke was great. I was just referencing it. Didn't mean to cause confusion.

My parents were definitely NOT cool. When I was very young they SANG all the time! To oldie moldie COUNTRY music. Got me doing it too. Made me think I actually could sing, too. Got me listening to ALL KINDS of music. Made me think I could sing. Even, at one time, made me even think I could DRAW. Took me a long time to realise it wasn't even close to true. Talk about your disillusionment. Or maybe your delusions. Or something. I hope I haven't given my children any delusions or illusions of what there is out there that they are in reality eligible to achieve.[/b]

Three weeks ago I would have said my parents were both awesome, but it's sorta changed now. My dad is great for making sure we keep the house we live in at the moment, and that I get to finish high school here. Howver, my mom has just seperated herself from all of us. I've spent time with her for the last two weekend, and each time it seemed like she couldn't wait to drop me off and go see her friends.
It'll be a while before I can answer this question better =/
