Those of you who know me know I like collecting antique weapons, namely swords.
I have collected quite a few in my travels through Europe and China.
...and now I find out that I can order these things over the internet.

Browse this place. What do you think?
Most of their items are pretty cheap and affordable, and have false or no edges.
But a few of their items seem like real collector worthy material.
What do you think? Is it pretty hokey or not?

The few I checked look decent for wall hangers.

I've always liked swords, too. I'd like to start collecting them, if I ever make any significant amount of money (which, as a journalist, is fairly unlikely, I'm sad to say).

Swords are cool and all, but I hate it when people spend $100+ for something that'll just hang on their wall. Blah.

ditto. If I'm gonna spend 100+ dollars on a sword, I'm gonna damn well well use it to kill the Highlander. Cut that sumbitches head clean off.
I bought a $40 full tang ninja sword (straight blade), and hacked anything I saw in the woods with it. And yes, you really CAN cut down small trees. Not anymore though. The blade is kinda unhappy right now.

So that's what he looks like.
My best friend collects swords as well. He actually uses them too.

Not TOO late to post on this, is it?
...is it even LEGAL to keep things like these, antique weapons, still weapons none the less, even in your own home?
Depending upon who you talk to, once you walk outta the shop with that gun, all the police need to know is that you have a gun before they can arrest you...

If you carry your permit for them, no, they can't arrest you.

I don't think you need a sword permit, Gendo. AFAIK, it's only for firearms. After all, you can't be arrested for having a huge sharp ass kitchen knife, can ye?

The law of the matter varies from state to state. Some have laws for concealed firearms. Others have laws for concealed weapons. Some have laws particularly pertaining to edged weapons.
Research the situation in your own state before getting caught.

Know where I can look up state laws regarding use and possession of firearms and bladed weapons?

I'd check your local library.

Bryan & I collect show swords. Samurai style only, and generally in sets. Got some REALLY nice looking ones, but they're all admittedly fakes. We're planning on finding some kendo lessons (Memphis has several places offering them), and once we know how to USE said swords properly, then we might look into buying a real one or 2.

Much better swords that you can bat around with, and most are cheaper.
