View Full Version : X-box or Gamecube?

OK, I know X-Box seriously doesn't even belong in the same thread as Gamecube, but something somebody said to me won't get out of my head and I want people to back me up.
I made an advertisement for a fake game and named it for Gamecube. Somebody saw it and said "Dude, you chose the worst game platform ever. X-Box is better...just look at Soul Calibur II. Spawn is better than Link."
I argued with him til he went offline, but please tell me I'm not alone here!

Umm...Well I've never played an X-Box, but my brother has Gamecube and I think it sucks bigtime. I think it's mainly the controller that bugs me. Also, Minidiscs vs. DVDs? Hmm.
The only good game I've played for it is Zelda: Windwaker. But yeah, this post is pointless because I didn't vote one way or the other.

well xbox is without a doubt the strongest system.. it really is a powerhouse....demonstrated by the monster size and weight of the friggin thing!
gamecube has PLENTY of great games though and with 4 wireless controllers...the multiplayer is just awesome.
really...its a pointless and answerless question. its all about the games...and which games are commin out when. for instance..this winter...gamecube probably has a stronger line-up because xbox doesnt have very many exclusive titles..save for ninja gaiden.
but..next year...there are some killer rpg's commin out for xbox that i cant wait for... namely fable and that one game made by the same ppl from KOTOR (forgot the title)
anyways..yeah..i have all three systems, and i dont regard any as better than the other (other than the ps2 obviously being the worst in terms of graphics and load times). it goes in waves..sometimes i spend months not even touching one system, but when a few good games come out ...ill play it almost exclusively for months afterwards.

Whoever you talked to is completely ridiculous. They based their Xbox argument (at least initially) on Spawn being better than Link. I haven't even played as Spawn because NOONE I know owns an Xbox, so I can't really say either way. Just listen to the words of AE
AE-"Everybody say Nin-ten-do!"
Everybody-"Nin-ten-do"
AE-"Everybody say Xbox SUCKS"
Everybody-"Xbox SUCKS"

spawn is a very good player. i dont know if he is neccessarily better, but you are cheating yourself not ever playing with him. he can pull off some crazy moves. i would say the main reason link is a great player is because..well..he can do a lot of cheap things other players cant do like keep you at bay with arrows and bombs..not to mention his ultra-effective throw that tosses people halfway across the room (or over the edge in most cases)
spawn can go up against any other player, but to use him is to really master his moves and his style of play.
so in terms if fitting into the soul caliber universe, i would have to argue that spawn is a better all around player.

I have noticed that I am getting more into Gamecube than I did with ps2. I would definetly say gamecube.

The point I'm making isn't that I'm intentionally not playing as Spawn, its that I haven't had the opportunity to play as him at all.
If you think Link is cheap, you clearly don't have any idea what you're talking about. He is very hard to use and while he does have a lot pof projectiles they have to be used only in choice situations or your opponent will make you pay. Both bombs and arrows can be run around and the boomerang can be ducked.
Actually the point I'm REALLY making is that basing system comparisons based on the exclusive characters of one game is a retarded argument, and furthermore, there are a shit ton of people that think Xbox blows ass.

this is true
and its pure ignorance on their part, rationallizing their choice in systems and nothing else

I would only get an X-box to play Ninja Gaiden.

you should never waist money on a system, for one game!! .. look at my N64, what was the use of that system? I traded in my system for Xenogears ..... wow what a good investment :)

I bought a Gamecube solely for MGS: Twin Snakes.
Yes, it's sitting off in the corner, waiting for the game to be released.

I dont own either system - but I like the gamecube better. The multi-player games are awsome. Mario Party, Super Smash, even multi-player Tiger Woods Golf (dont laugh). It's the best system for goofing around with friends, and your gameboy advanced games can be played on the big screen too! There's no way I would get an x-box. But that's my choice in games...

well i bought my xbox when KOTOR came out...just for that game
but when you buy a system and start looking for good games, you'd be surprised at how many you find. most people only really read about games commin out for their systems...but there are a lot of good ones out there.

The Tiger Woods PGA Tour games are the best golf games ever, and they're a LOT of fun in multiplayer. I have a couple friends who come over almost every week and we play a round. It was really funny this week because one of my friends has been getting hole-in-ones on EVERY par 3 for the past three weeks. He got three in one round, so he got like $2 million just this week. Lots of fun
Anyway, I'm a big Nintendo fanboy I guess. I love my GameCube. It's worth it for Metroid Prime alone IMO, as well as all the other games like Viewtiful Joe, WaveRace, F-Zero, Zelda, etc.
Game Cube if you want more Japanese games, or are on a budget.
X-Box if you're more of a PC gamer/want more American games. Also if you want Live (which is well worth the money, despite EA stupidly refusing to put games on it and instead running their own HORRID multiplayer services).

I'm an old skool gamer at heart. I love the older, simpler games and that's why I choose GAMECUBE!
It has the most FUN games. I don't like games that are super-realisitc and intense and all that other shit. Give me FUN stuff like Mario Kart, Viewtiful Joe, Mario Golf, Mario Party and Super Monkey Ball.
I may possibly get an Xbox for the SEGA games, KOTOR, and some choice others, but not many. It would mainly be to own it...that's about it...
SAY NIN-TEN-DO!
SAY X-BOX BLOWS!

SNES should be a choice.
you should never waist money on a system, for one game!!
...I bought a Dreamcast just to play Grandia II (have yet to finish still). The only other game I bought later for it was Skies of Arcadia. Well worth it in my opinion.
Oh, and the Gamecube discs ARE DVD, just in the three inch format. Those discs hold over a gig of data.

Ever play Outlaw Golf? That game is freakin awesome :D
SNES should be a choice.
This is just a poll deciding if Gamecube or X-Box is better. Of course, without a shadow of a doubt, Super Nintendo is the best platform ever. :D

All I play on my Dreamcast is Grandia II. Unfortunately, the turntable isn't working properly and I need to get a new Dreamcast. :( For those wondering, I saved it right before the battle with the 4th piece of Valmar (Underground Factory, Gate of Darkness, w/e...)

Damn fuckin' straight it is. Out of my ten favorite games of all time, five come from SNES (and four of those are in the top five).

Please, don't say that. Last time I said that was the best freakin game, I had to back it up with a lot of arguments....
(But of course it's the best! :D )

Nintendo 64 was awesome. I miss playing Ocarina of time. That game is NICE, and genious game play. Let's not forget one of the best multi-player game of all time, Goldeneye 007. I enjoyed Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, Jet Force Gemini, and other games that I can't think of.
I was probably exagerating what I said about getting the X-box. I know I've seen some pretty badass games for X-box on commercials or egm.com.

Nintendo 64 was awesome.
I've owned 2 N64s. My first one was jungle green and all I owned was Donkey Kong 64 and Starfox 64. I sold it cause I got pissed off that Earthbound 64's release was cancelled!!!!!!!!!!! :x
But I now have a shadow black one with 5 whole games...and 1 of them doesn't work. Whoo. I'd just like to know how my Mario Party doesn't work. It's the best condition of an N64 cartridge I've ever seen...in addition to that, Nintendo makes their systems and games practically indestructable....trust me, my SNES has taken a lot of bumps and never broke. But on top of them all, N64 has to be the most indestructable. So back to the question....how did the previous owner break it?!
