View Full Version : WHO wants a KIRBY RPG?!

Alright, you've taken the poll, and Kirby's Dreamland (the original) lost out to Kirby's Dreamland 3, by 3:4.
But then I asked you about a Kirby RPG.
What would you think about a Kirby RPG?!
Imagine, if you can:
*ENTERING BATTLE MODE*
*Kirby has a chance to attack!*
*Normal Options: Inhale, Headbutt, Fly Away*
(Inhale: Instant death on the target, but costs alot of MP.
Gives you two new options next turn:
-Swallow: Absorbs inhaled enemy's power, otherwise restores a little HP. Returns back to normal options.
-Spit: Critical attack on the target. Returns back to normal options.
Headbutt: The only real attack Kirby has ever had without inhaling or using a power...strength depends on Kirby's attack rating.
Fly Away: Retreat option).
And then when it comes down to powers, when you've absorbed an enemy's power, you must then cast it like a magic spell before using it, and you can only use it for the duration of the battle. You have to recast it for each battle when you want to use it, and it costs MP. Think of it like casting "Fire Brand" on your sword, or "Whatever brand" depending on the power.
The animal friends would have the same options, but there would be a few allies who have much different options that don't involve inhaling at all, like perhaps Metaknight, for example, who would only attack with a sword.
Tell me what you think.

w00t. Viva la Kirby!
They would probably have to introduce a new villain though, or keep using Dark Matter.
...have you heard the theme for King Dedede's tower on the Iceberg, in Kirby's Dreamland 3? There are WAR SIRENS in that theme! Oh, I know! The General of King Dedede's army decides to usurp his throne and take full command of his army! There is your new villain right there! And that is why King Dedede joins you...to regain his lost throne. Cliche? Yes. Done before? Redundant question, yes. But does it not work? It works...you are not expecting too much plot when it comes to Kirby, even when it is an RPG, anyway.
I can dig it.

I was going to do a big parody of Super Mario RPG post to point out its faults, but I'll save it. I'll just tell you how it starts: Kirby is clashing with King Dedede in the king's castle when a mysterious force throws them both out and turns the castle into a floating fortress that also inexplicably tosses the 8 legendary foods across the land. These foods are required so Kirby has the floating power to make it to the legendary fortress. However, the mysterious force sends bosses that eat the foods and terrorize the locals with the powers they gain from them. So, Kirby must defeat the bosses and consume them to get the powers of the foods. Kinda' like Highlander. Along the way, he must team up with Dedede who actually likes things like soap operas, flowers, and other things that involve the creators smashing the gamer's head in with irony. I've got more, but it gets angrier and angrier, and it'd be best to keep it somewhat humerous.
And the sad thing is, I think they'd actually consider the plot. I'd go for the 8 Ancient Foods things, though.

If they were to make a Kirby RPG I sure hope it would be more innovative than just jamming Kirby into the basic RPG forumla that has grown oh so stale.

...it think it stands to reason that, by the nature of Kirby, a Kirby RPG would be no normal RPG at all.

I know that. Just Barret's idea sounded a bit too base for my tastes.

I dunno... a cool RPG would be something like Smash Brothers, with different stages from different games, all throw together... sort of like Kingdom Hearts, only with Nintendo games instead of Disney movies. It'd be kind of interesting applying strategies for Link while he's in Norfair, or for Mario in Green Greens. I mean, yeah, that's simple of you look at it as a sidescroller, but add a 3D aspect to it, an interesting backstory, and stuff, and it's a relatively newish concept (I mean, other than KH, where alse have you seen massive crossovers in an RPG-like setting? and.. well.. that's my two cents.

Oh LORD, that would be like that old Captain N video game cartoon, in which all of the world of different games are melded together into one...that was gay.
Kingdom Hearts made me sad, too...I don't ever want to hear bout Kingdom Hearts again...
