What was your favorite Donkey Kong Country game?

Personally, I liked DKC2 the best. Dixie was a nice addition, considering the hover jump, I liked the soundtrack the best, and I just like the levels the best.

The original DKC was rather challenging; there was always at least one level per area that I always had trouble getting past, and would have to practice several times before getting past. It had a good soundtrack, but I ended up liking its successors' soundtracks better.

DKC3 was interesting; I live in "the frozen northern wastelands," so the environment of the game was actually quite similar to the geography I am used to. But in the end, it was a rather easy game. Still had a good soundtrack ,though.

I have played DKC64, but...it was just frsutrating in so many ways.

The entire DKC series was pretty dull in my opinion. Uninspired levels, lackluster gameplay and no challenge to speak of. And DKC64, well, that game just plain sucked. So boring and repetitive and BLAH.

When it comes to DK games Donkey Kong 94 for Game Boy owns the world. If you've never played it would be best ot check out the upcoming remake/sequal Mario and Donkey Kong for GBA.

Man, I had a tough time choosing between DKC and DKC2. DKC2 had the best gameplay out of the whole series, but DKC was damned close. DKC, on the other hand, had, in my opinion, the best soundtrack and the best level design. I loved the jungles, the ice caves, the treetop villages, the forests, the seas. DKC2 paled by comparison.

Maybe I actually liked DKC2 better, but I voted for DKC out of pure nostalgia.

Donkey Kong Country 2. There was something empty about Donkey Kong Country. It was a really good game, but I didn't feel they had totally integrated character they wanted into it. Still, the level where slowly but surely starts blizzarding is a thing of beauty.

However, with DKC2, they took what they had in DKC and polished the hell out of it. Levels crammed with detail, some of the best music I've heard in a video game, slick gameplay, lots of variety, and it was actually a challenge. The game is simply a blast to paly.

Same here. I have my fondest memories of the first one, though I never owned it. I'm playing it now though.

I consider DKC2 superior in some ways.

Donkey Kong the original was just a game to me...but it wasnt anything worth remembering, not to me anyway.

Donkey Kong Country on the other hand is a differnet story, this was one of those games that you could play with large groups of people just passing contorls around, this also applies to the second (my personal favorite) and the thrid. I have no idea why it was this way though, it just seemed like it was popular amongst us kids back in the day!

and for some reason we always used to eat watermelon jolly ranchers while playing the first Donkey Kong Country...to this day evertime I have one it reminds me of that game, strange..

I remember I played a few levels of the third one several months ago, for the first time in many, many years. And I remember thing, what the fuck did they do to this great series? That game has no life, no soul, no good gameplay. Nothing. I have no idea how I got any further into it (and I did) all those years ago.

What a shame. Two awesome games, and then nothing. Nintendo, I demand a new DKC game! And a totally solid one! Too bad it'll never happen...

No it was me. In a moment of crazy random happenstance I came across this in the second to last page of the forums cuz I was looking for a now dead link to something else in a totally different topic.
