Yeah...Yeah... I'm not a fan of polls, but after listening to goat's Contra track today, it made me wonder if he is "the next Ailsean" or whatever...anyways, deep down, I think goat is in position to steal Sean's throne...
When it comes to Ailsean, I'm a bigger fan than most, but damn is goat impressive. And the important thing is he's still "current" if you wanna call it that. Ailsean is still pumping out a remix here and there and he's on OUS albums, but goat is regularly putting new mixes on vgmix.
I think Ailsean has better production all around, but I feel goat has more of a raw, ass-kicking sound...
Who do I prefer?
I dont know...hard to say, but if goat was a wookie who looked like Silent Bob, I'd tell Ailsean to watch his ass... And if he can cover something from Gitaroo Man? Then the gloves are off...
So I ask you, who is the best guitarist?

Man, I wish I could've voted for two...I do miss JAXX, but Ailsean has to take the cake.

I wish I could vote for all 4, they all kick ass :(

I miss JAXX too. He did Sonic music. None of those vg cover bands like the 'Bosses or the NESkimos even touch Sonic tunes.

Best? Hmm. I voted for Prozax because I dig his tracks the most, but yeah, I like all four.
I'm surprised Zyko isn't up there. His second solo in Into the Deep is sex (a quickie, but still). Psylocyn's programming isn't the best, but the guitars are tres cool.

Man, Mustin's doing great.

I voted for Ailsean as well. I'm generally in agreement with Joe on this one; Ailsean is still the champ but Goat is rapidly on his way to challenging him for that title.
Interesting coincidence: When I finished reading through the comments in this thread Goat's Last Man Standing remix started playing. Too bad this wasn't a vgm guitarist Survivor type of poll.

I believe there is but one way to resolve this dispute.
All involved must have a guitar playoff, and if that doesn't solve anything, a fight...to the death.

there are more guitarists than that. I feel limited by my choices.

Same here. I picked Ailsean, but I might choose Virt over him.
What!!No NoWave!!! NO ZYKO!!! HOW DARE YOU!!*slap*
Seriously, I pick Ailsean, as much I like all the other guitar players(Jaxx, Zyko, NoWave, goat & Prozak) Ailsean is the man.

Sorry there are only 4 choices... I was originally thinking of just goat vs. Ailsean, but then I figured why not make a third choice and throw in Prozax and then I figured that JAXX is an incredible mixer who isn't around anymore (at least not really...) and threw him in.
If someone else wants to make a poll with EVERY vg mixer guitarist, go ahead...make sure to throw Thumper in there as well...
I was trying to keep it somewhat simple...
And if I ever see a goat/Ailsean collab, I will probably make a mess of my pants...
I was just joking, I'd figure nobody would know who No Wave is, he's pretty good but I guess it's hard to tell when he's always on the lower tiers of Vgmix...
I agree though, Ailsean/goat collab would be cool, I dont think I'd mess my pants though...
Two Questions:
1. who's thumper?
2. When/why did Jaxx go away? :(

In case you didn't know, Ailsean, JAXX and prozax did a COLLABORATION (http://oneup.timewastersguide.com/music/ailsean/Ailsean-15-with_Jaxx_and_Prozax-Uniracers-Unikwak.mp3) once, which rocked pretty hard.

1.) Unikwak rules.
2.) Don't know the JAXX story, but I'm sure someone does...
3.) Thumper is a highly underrated guitarist, in my opinion. He's done an awesome Terra remix (Green Haired Girl), a sweet Xenogears mix (Soaring Skyward) and an awesome Gitaroo Man remix (Tainted Thumpers)..
He has a few songs on OCR I think... I know his Chrono Trigger remix is there (Times of Distortion) and he may have others...
The Xenogears remix is at vgmix...
Maybe I'll upload all the Thumper mixes and pop a link here...he's on of my faves and kinda wish more people knew who the hell he was...
I'm sure the link won't work yet, or if it does, there won't be much, but try www.joecam.net/thumper for his mp3s... I'll upload some tonight... I'm dial up though, so don't expect fast results...

I'm not sure, but this is what I heard. I know JAXX is a religious person, and I think he went into becoming a minister or something? He wanted to devote all his time to that. He did however, pop up in the vgmix chat channel about 4-5 months ago.

Plus didn't he pop out a new Chrono Trigger remix a little while back and completely surprised EVERYONE?
Oh yeah...the Thumper mp3s are up...
pfft

i just downloaded unikwak. and HOLY SHIT, DUDE!!!!
i just finished listening to it at least ten times in a row, its so good. of course, i am a fan of Sean, and coupling him with JAXX, and Prozax just blew my mind.
so, i think i'll toss in GTA: VC, and go crusing to this newest of tracks that should be in a video game.
EDIT: i know it came from a video game,ut this remix should be used as well. it kicks much ass.

Don't worry zyko...we all love you...
Would you feel better if I added you to the poll?
no, i don't want to be in the poll, just being curious. its the inquisitive stretch of day over on the west coast.

Yeah. That mix is one of my favorites. Nice to see an UnderMixed song from an OverMixed game done some real justice.
