Been listening to this for 2+ hours here at work. Some of my favs include:
'Knight Rider with Soy Sauce' is bumpin'.
'abstractions of rain' is absolutely fantastic.
'All-Star Doskpop' is totally Maniacs of Noise.

Hemophiliac - try this one - http://www.mazedude.com/balls/no_balls_no_glory.zip

jmo - actually I was going for more of an Elwood, Lizardking style imitation, not Maniacs of Noise - but glad ya dig it!

Oh wow! You guys are so great! ^_^ And cute too! I've already Ipod-ed it all.

It sounds like y'all had a fun time with this project. I hope you keep it up. I haven't played Super Dodgeball in forever. I don't even remember if I was any good at it...heh.

The site is great. I enjoy the flow of it too. Nice job Mazedude. ^_^;;

Thanks a lot for the tunes guys. Virtual Hugs for all of you!

Vodkapella - Awesome lyrics, and confirms right at the outset that the whole project is an excuse to make as many jokes about "balls" as possible. Still, the best part by far was definitely the soprano at 0:29. :D

All-Star Doskpop - You can always trust Mazedude to pay tribute to the ol' chips. Rock solid stuff right here. Love the whole ending section.

Maybe We Should Stick to Football - Nothin' like a good rockin'. And the voice clips were...interesting. Glad to have you on board the Dudes, Danimal. :)

Somebody Get Me Some Water - That synth = OMG. I didn't know they came that phat. And major kudos in general for turning an originally Egyptianish source tune into something that actually sounds like it could have come from India.

Snowballs - Really amazing what Frank did to this track...the source is not exactly the most melodically pleasing tune, but he managed to make something out of nothing. Got some Daft Punk vibes from the synth and beat starting at 0:50. I like the short section at 2:18 too.

The Great Migration of the Serengeti - Another case of turning a meh source into a kickin' track by having a good arrangement. Love the use of ethnic percussion here.

Knight Rider with Soy Sauce - I don't get the title at all. :/ Oh well, like JM said, this is bumpin'. Definitely need some J-rap style vocals up in this piece.

Red Rocket! - UNTS UNTS UNTS. Just kidding, this is pretty good for your first trance track. I really like the stuff going on at 1:15. (But seriously, this track sucks.)

The Fight Within - I told Mustin this is exactly how I would've done this track - slow and emo. Although my rhythms would've been totally off because I never use a metronome. :P

abstractions of rain - I feel like this should be in some Bemani game of some sort, I dunno why. Did you sequence that guitar? Because if so, that is crajeeeeeeeeeeee. Nice chiptuney section too. Liked the use of panning in this track.

Murder Your Friends Boogie - Of course this had to be a boogie. Nice piano comping, great solos. Kudos to all involved.

I'm Taking My Ball and Going Home - Blad with his tinkly piano stuffs again. :P Seriously though, I've always admired your arrangement and performance skills. Sounds like something I'd hear during prelude/offertory at my church. :D You said a lot of work went into the transitions, and it definitely shows. Great stuff.

Team England (Alternate) - Perfect complement to Danimal's track. So cool how the same track can work in two completely different styles. And it's just great to hear a new Ailsean track in general.

Team China (Alternate) - No matter how much Tim says my China track is better than his, I still feel bad for bumping it off into the alternates with my last-minute submission. It's not often you hear chugging rhythm guitars and guzheng and dizi in the same track. As a result, it manages to sound both very hardcore and very ethnic at the same time. Like Tim mentioned in the tracknotes, Chinese music is a lot more beautiful and diverse than most people realize, and I think this succeeds in bringing that out, which is something I wish I had done in my own arrangement.

Stalin's Ballin' - Heh, short but authentic sounding. Wouldn't mind hearing a full version someday.

Man that was so long ago, I don't remember anything, not even the huge gay orgy at Dale's place. :[

But really, piano, violin, *and* guitar? You so Azn, po.

Well yeah I've heard the theme, but I didn't see the relation. I guess it does have a certain resemblance though.

dude, guitar doesn't count as azn. ONLY piano violin and cello

plus i play bass too, but i guess that's also technically a guitar but still totally different instrument at the same time. i suck at piano so i dunno if i count that

Ok, by now has everyone discovered the fun little Easter egg? That you can smack the dude in the top left?
http://www.noballsnoglory.net/

Ridiculous that my mix is one of the few that graced OCR; personally I thought Rove You Rong Time and Somebody Get Me Some Water were much better.

Especially weird since I was already on the front page of OCR for something else. To actually be on the home page twice? At the same time? That's just crazy.

Ok, quick reviews (since a lot of people have said that they would write with their thought soon, then never did - I'll go ahead and do it):

---

3. Maybe We Should Stick to Football - I dig it. The guitar grooves are really great interpretations of the source material, and would be really fun to actually play dodgeball in real life to. Honestly I didn't care for the voice acting at first, but once I actually listened and got the whole River City Ransom joke, I quite enjoy it now. :)

4. Somebody Get Me Some Water - This one grew on me; at first I was like "where the hell is the original?" But now, after several listens I really love it, it's one of my favorites on the album, and of course, I hear the original now. I'd also say this is probably the most "ethic" arrangement on the album. Good job Kunal.

5. Snowballs - Now I actually began an Iceland mix, years before the project... and never finished it. However, in my version I was being very anal to stay true to the tonality of the original, full whole tone scales and parallels and everything. So at first I didn't care for this arrangement much, since it took so much liberty with the source material. But this too has grown on me, and I admit that the source is very difficult to work with.

6. Rove You Rong Time - Now it's rare that I hear music that makes me actually laugh out loud, but this one did, right from the get go. Hilarious. And such a huge leap from Dhsu's normal work, I really dig the branching out into different genres.

7. The Great Migration of the Serengeti - Another difficult source tune to work from, and zyko handled it beautifully. I dig how the weird guitar work somehow adds to the strangeness of the ethnic aspect, almost as if "this is how they play guitar in Kenya." I also think the hand drums and organ fuse beautifully with the overall groove.

8. Knight Rider with Soy Sauce - A trifle disappointing since I know Dale could do much better, but it's still cool; I dig the Knight Rider mimic. Nice use of Japanese instruments too.

9. Red Rocket - Quite fun. A very cool interpretation of the source tune, although I would've liked to hear it with some more "Russian" elements mingled in. Weave some accordian-esque synths into the trance, perhaps some heavily modified orchestral patches, maybe even a vocal "hey!"... but I digress. I enjoy the remix. Good work.

10. The Fight Within - I really like Mustin's work here, and especially dig his interpretation as to why he chose to arrange it this way. Sometimes we're our own worst enemy, that whole thing. However, I'm a little sad to see that certain melodic and rhythmic aspects of the original tune disappeared in the process.

11. Abstractions of Rain - Well played, nice production, but a far cry from the original... then again this original doesn't hold as much nostalgia for me, since the only person I could get to play versus with me was my little sister, and after losing a few times she wouldn't want to play any more. But I digress again; I'm impressed at posu yan's guitar work, and I really enjoy the fusion of sawtooth and square waves intermingled with modern sounds. Mixing the old and the new. I dig it.

12. Murder Your Friends Boogie - Hit and miss... the first minute or so seems a bit dry, but when the solos kick in it really gets fun. I just wish it had more of a live ensemble blending where the different instruments that soloed would also join in with the base theme and melody at the appropriate times, rather than just appearing for their solo, then disappearing. Still, it's fun.

13. I'm Taking My Ball and Going Home - Ah, a peaceful end to the journey. An epic sense of weary success, all delivered through piano. Beautiful arrangement. The classical piano seems to be a nice centering genre to land at after such a crazy exploration of ethnic genres and fusions.

Well making people LOL might not be the intended effect of my track, but as long as you're enjoying it, it's served its purpose. :)

Really glad people are digging it so much though, especially for something so out of my comfort zone...definitely appreciate Mustin offering to fill in the blanks in that regard, he really made the track shine IMO. But yeah, this really motivates me to try more new stuff in the future...thanks guys!

My favorites are both danimal and ailsean's versions of Team England (perfect compliments), blad's Credits track (and Mustin's Shadow track, even if it does remind me of the sad walking away tune from the Incredible Hulk), and Dale's Japan track (honestly, Dale's track is almost the perfect vision of what I originally wanted from my own SDB project).

The cd's been playing in my car for a couple weeks now, and I still love the hell out of it. Great job, Bad Dudes!

Maybe there could be a HQ CD release of this album? Somebody get me some BASS! But really the bass on that song is incredible, and needs the extra beef... and stuff(ing).

Oh yeah, the praise. This album is definitely above average as far as video game remixes go.
