What's this? No in-depth reviews of the latest by the Bad Dudes? No praise and confused wonder at the concept of doing an entire EP based on one original? No fellow musicians picking up all the subtleties and extreme variety that abounded as a result?

Fine then, I'll start it off.

Personally when Kunal mentioned the idea of this project to me way back when, I was taken aback... after all, up until then I was about the only one who had created a Sagat mix to date, so to be asked to do it again was a bit odd. Invited into a remix project to remix a song I had already remixed? But I saw the potential that if everyone was remixing the same thing, the results would most likely be a bit out of the box and could be an interesting combination. So I agreed.

I dig the result. It's like a modern Theme and Variations. Everyone's take is unique, the interpretation of the source material reflects each remixer's personality pretty accurately, and it's varied enough so that it never gets boring despite the repetition of the source theme.

We haven't really publicly announced this yet - it was just in the "by the way" thread. So we'll hear more soon.

But I agree, it's pretty phenomenal what we did here. We managed to make an album out of the same track and arranged it so that things never get boring.

I guess it's because we're pretty much the best.

Except that we're a bunch of nerds arranging video game music and we're not the best. D'oh.

I love the results. And between the liner notes and artwork, I think this may be one of my favorite remix projects period. I'm really glad that Morse joined us on this one. It was a long time coming. Dale and I were thinking of doing it half-seriously, but the Bad Dudes take shit seriously!

I have so many favorites that it's hard to list them all...Mustin's, Morse's, Mazedude's (old and new)...

Like I said, probably one of my favorite projects ever.

This project could have easily turned out terrible had it not been for everyone's creative spirit. My eyes went sore from rolling them so much the last time I listened to a project that used the same source tune for each track.

Live Thai Guy is better live...
Sly Thai Guy 's got that Sheehy pitch bend vibe.
Sexxy Thai just may be my fav cut off the ep.
Abstracted Thai Guy sounds like something out of a Sagat movie.
Proggy Thai Guy is prog rock, son...enough said.
Alone with Tiger reminds me of an 80s cut...which is a great thing.
Maita'i Roa is hypnotizing as crap.
Sagat's Moonbike pays great homage to its inspiration tune, which is a fav of mine.
Waltzing Thai Guy should have been finished by that chinese chick!
