View Full Version : So when VGMusic gets cool...

Let's face it, VGMusic will one day get cool, just like anime did. Unfortunately, like anime, it will eventually get so popular that even uncool videogame-illiterate buttheads will like it. That means that cool and "other" people that like VGMusic will be indistinguishable (so no one will be cool). Thus I propose a high-profile musician *coughMustincough* handwrites a "certificate of videogame-liking coolness" (that sucks) and posts it on the internet for all fans to download until VGMusic catches on with the populace. That way we'll have proof they we're cooler than everyone else :D

EH?

I don't understand why you're at OneUp Studios if you don't think VG music is cool. O_o

Uhh. I love VGMusic. It's the only stuff I listen to. Where'd you get the idea I didn't think it was cool? I'm just thinking we need proof to show we're cooler then everone else when it catches on. Why does no one get that?

Ipso facto, you think it's not cool now.

DDR took over America. I don't see why VG music might do the same if it's spread the same.

Whatever you say, Grillo. Fight the power. Don't let "the man" take you down. No good can come of becoming "mainstream". [/sarcasm]

What's the deal with the sense of 'elitism' some vgm fans have and the fear of vgm becoming mainstream? If you really liked vgm, you'd WANT it to be mainstream, so the art form you care so much about can be shared with other people. It just seems to me that so many people only like this thing cuz so many other people don't; I just never understood that mindset.

I try to introduce people to VGmusic all the time. I mean, at orientation, I met some guys who seemed like they'd like it, and I gave them the url for here. If it becomes "mainstream", great. If it doesn't, well too bad for people who don't like it cause it's good music. I hate it when people think I'm listening to good music until they learn that it's VGmusic. Then they're all like "Oh" and just kinda drift the conversation away. Dumbasses.

I was bringing Shonen home the other night and was playing some Megaman songs on his laptop, anyways the girl in the back seat was like this is cool techno music. I dont think she had any idea it was videogame music at all.

Wow, the certficate idea sounds retarded. It doesn't matter when you started listening to a type of music, just that you did.

God forbid "my music" ever becomes liked by someone else I dislike. I mean like, that would totally be like, "selling out", man.

this is really pointless to discuss. i enjoy vgm because it reminds me of playing games for my whole childhood, and because of the excellent work some composers have done.

'coolness' has not ever been a significant factor in my choices in Life (Mustin's ™).

The popularity of some things may draw large numbers of fans whose behavior i don't wish to be associated with, but it is not the 'coolness' or the 'mainstream' status that has ever put me off.

How's that for a certificate?

best certificate ever.

Catch-22. Everyone who is cool enough to be worthy of a certificate won't want a certificate because they don't care what anyone else thinks to begin with.

i'd make an 'official 'totally missed the joke' award, but i'm busy.

Do you mean me? Because I was responding to the original post, and the topic in general. Sorry if I was unclear.
