I was listening to "My Favorite Things" in the car a few days ago (I recently auditioned for "The Sound of Music", you may recall, & that was one of my practice songs), and it suddenly struck me that you could make an entire parody of that song using lyrics based on video games, called "My Favorite Games".
I don't have the free time it'd take to sit & write a bunch of clever, rhyming, lyrics to that, but as much as we all post, we obviously have the combined time, and I KNOW we're all clever.
So somebody get us started. Here are the original lyrics to the song, for those of you who don't know it.
Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings,
These are a few of my favorite things.
Cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels,
Doorbells and sleighbells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings,
These are a few of my favorite things.
Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into springs,
These are a few of my favorite things.
When the dog bites,
When the bee stings,
When I'm feeling sad,
I simply remember my favorite things,
And then I don't feel so bad.

DAMN YOU!
I've been wanting to write parody lyrics for this song as well, only using "Themes" instead of games, because it sounds so similar to "things." I propose we do that anyway :P
Bubble Man, Wily's Stage and of course Flash Man,
Wood Man and Heat Man, let's not forget Crash Man.
Mega Man 2's got great music it seems,
These are a few of my favorite themes.
That's what I got so far.

We should get a complete song, and have the OneUp Mushrooms feat. Hillary Creech record it.
Damn, Hillary beat me.

The song repeats those 3 verses 3 times, so if we got a metric buttload of verses, we could actually do 9 different stanzas.

Metric buttload...I'll have to use that...
Hmmm....expect another verse from me either later today or sometime tomorrow morning. I've seriously been thinking about this for a while, so I've already got numerous ideas floating around in my empty head.

the metric buttload differs greatly from the standard buttload, so i'm glad you pointed that out.

Thought you guys might like "metric buttload". I can't take credit; my friend Q is always using that term, & I thought it was hilarious.

Same case with my name (my real name). Kinda of annyoning. It's even worse when they all say the same thing like they invented it or something.
We should really make some kind of organization for this thing...

You may have misunderstood me, I realize Hillary must have heard a similar joke any number of times. That's why I said it--the humor is, it's neither new nor very funny.
Or you could get get angry about it.

All right, here's what we got so far.
Verses for "A" strain (OR Takin' the A Strain...shaddup, it's late and I'm tired)
Gaining new powers for Mega Man's cannon,
Link fighting bravely so he can beat Ganon,
Mario thwarting the Koopa King's aims,
These are a few of my favorite games.
Ness and his friends passing through Saturn Valley,

Sora mowing through Heartless with the Kingdom Key
Tommy Vercetti hijacking a helicopter or three
Fei chillin' in his Gear with the Men of the Thames
These are a few of my favorite games.
Snake infiltrating bases in a cardboard box
Winging through the Lylat system as Fox

Samus curling up into her Morph Ball,
Rinoa dancing on the floor with Squall,

Trav'ling through time with some magical pendants,
Fighting in 'bots in two or three dimensions.

Cactuars and moogles and chocobo riders,
Tonberries, imps, bombs and gigantic spiders.

These are a few of my favorite games.
Vampire slaying with whips, swords and crosses,
Football seasons have some wins and some losses.
Master Chief takes out his shotgun and aims,
These are a few of my favorite games.
Beating up Ice Climbers with Link and Kirby,
Shooting off red shells in a go-kart derby.
Beating the dragons and saving the dames,
These are a few of my favorite games.
Verses for "B" Strain (nothing pops into my head with this phrase, thank god)
When I'm looking
For nostalgia
Every now and then,
I simply remember my favorite games,
And then I go play
Again!
When my life sucks,
And I really
Want to get away,
I pop in one of
My favorite games,
And then I am good
All day!
So what we got is too many A verses for three stanzas, and one too few B verses. However, if we come up with two more B verses, we can have 4 complete stanzas.
Oh, and if I get Finale or something like that in the near future, I'd like to arrange this, complete with little musical bridges in between stanzas, like little bits of VGM that would fit into the waltz feel of the song. I'm thinking the underwater music from Super Mario Bros. and Waltz for the Moon from FFVIII would fit in nicely.
Ybrik Metaknight

Actually, reviewing the ones we have, not all are really usable. Almasy's verses for the most part do not fit into the cadence of the song, and I actually repeat almost the same phrase in the last part of a couple of mine.

I like them the way they are. Singing:
Garland declaring he'll knock you all down
And just holding the last word over two notes sounds fine, whereas if you were to change it, for instance, to:
Garland declaring that he'll knock you all down
Sounds pretty awkward.

One of those mcdonald's tv ads makes me want to jump up and kick the tv in. Usually I don't make it and instead end up writhing on the floor in agony. It's the one where someone is rapping about mcgriddle cakes among other things (with the most annoying intonations): I swear it was conceived in hell.

At least it's not as bad as the Chicken Selects Commericals. Although rapping while going to McDonalds just dosent seem to realistic either.
You know what, all those commercials suck.
